Cat Stevens is a favorite of mine, his lyrics are beautiful and written from the heart. Yusuf Islam (born Steven Demetre Georgiou; 21 July 1948), commonly known by his stage name Cat Stevens, and later Yusuf, is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His musical style consists of folk, pop, rock, and, in his later career, Islamic music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. He has also won a number of humanitarian awards. Religion like politics is considered taboo in group conversation. We may all have different ways of who (the One has many names) and how we worship. We lost Bill Withers this week, this song is one of my favorites he sang. It carries an inspirational message, we can reach out to one another, no matter where we live on this planet that we share.
*Note: Each day though there seems no end in sight, do not let this darkness (fear) over take the light (hope). Please watch my musical choice for this verse in it entirety. It is quite beautiful visually.
According to the Encyclopedia of World Religions Sufis believe that: “the human spirit being a direct emanation from the divine Command, is therefore an emanation of God himself, and could find its highest aim only in the obliteration of its illusory selfhood and absorption into the Eternal Reality. I love Rumi’s poetry it has always gave me comfort in moments of sadness or despair. For further understanding I have provided two links.
