Dream Weaver *

The legend of The Dream Catcher has been told by Native American Indians for generations.

The Catcher is created by the hands of the Dream Weaver who is guided by the spirits of darkness and light.

~~~
In the full light of the moon,
within the woods she began
gathering all that was needed.
Upon bended knees she
set about her task, quietly
reciting ancient ritual verses.
Gently bending a willow branch
to form a circle of strength.
Using silken spider thread,
she begins creating a magical
knotted web, there in nights
evil dreams are trapped.
Below the circle she hangs
multiple strands of threaded
feathers, they flutter upon
nights breeze gently guiding
the light of lifeโ€™s beauty
into your dreams.
~~~

Have no fears of evil dreams.

Her talisman will keep them

at bay until mornings light,

so you my sleep peacefully.

The Last Time *

Go he’d say

Over and over

~

So many times it was

screamed in my ear,

followed by

his heavy hand

~

Going wasn’t an option

Only if I had listened

In my gut I knew

Nothing would change

Gonna stay just the same

~

So many times

thinking it was love,

deep down

knowing it was fear

~

Gone Iโ€™ll be soon enough

Only now finding the courage

Now finding a way to escape

Endng this โ€˜loveโ€™ charade

~

Finally I obeyed you;

taking my child,

leaving you behind

while you were

out getting drunk.

~

No longer do I

hold my breath;

now I inhale

freedom

deeply.

oh so

sweetly!

*Note: I started this for https://dversepoets.com/2021/02/22/goinggoinggone-poeming/ which was supposed to to be a quadrille using 44 words in all, excluding the title. I found that I couldnโ€™t limit my words, nor my thoughts. So here you have the end result. (On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. ncadv.org) Yes, there is a song. ๐ŸŒŽโœŒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’™ Take care, be safe.

*Note: Weโ€™ve all experienced That Day, you know when it all becomes too much. Sometimes itโ€™s hard to suppress our emotions, how you deal with them is what counts. Mine is meditation and music. Close your eyes and listen.

*Note: Todayโ€™s post is in regards to bipolar disorder. Globally, 46 million people around the world have bipolar disorder. (Our World in Data, 2018) There are various types of bipolar disorders. Iโ€™ve posted a very informative link below with quite interesting statistics and treatment. Mental health is a growing problem, with defunding of various programs in the US it will not improve. As always a song about the issue in this post.

*Note: what most people donโ€™t know is that dementia sometimes takes root at a younger age, the signs may not show themselves until middle age. (Below is a link to more information about dementia.) I dedicate this to my best friends mother Juanita (she was like my second Mom, we even shared the same birthday). She was a brilliant woman (she was an integral part in instituting the bilingual program in the Chicago School System) and a much loved teacher by her students. As always a song.
