Emerald Isle Quest*

I follow the trail not yet green in early Spring. Beginning my search for the home of the Leprechaun King.

~

Only silence and shadows accompany me. As the wind whispers fear into my ear.

~

Now quickening my pace, pushing forward. The terrain ahead no longer familiar.

~

Glancing back over my shoulder noticing gnarled branches closing off the path behind me.

~

Ahead in a clearing I see what appears to be a throne of stone, covered with velvety moss.

Could it be, that I draw nearer to his home? Soft low chattering I hear from somewhere, yet I see nothing.

~

The deeper into the forest I go, the sky begins to disappear. Slowly darkness starts closing in.

~

A short distance away I see what appears to be a wooden twisted staff, staked in the ground.

~

Just behind this marker, a mound can be seen. Camouflaged by leaves, moss and grass.

Squinting to see it clearly, I espy a small figure roaming about. Apparently looking for something.

~

Creeping nearer I see it’s a little old man. Dressed in coat of green, worn top hat covers his head.

~

Quickly I reach out grabbing him by his coat collar. Noticing he’s holding a small leather pouch.

~

Turning him to see his face, as he squirms for release. Than surprisingly elicits an angry scream.

~

His small figure fought against my will to see his face. Then I did see the angry look in his eyes.

They struck terror through my whole being. Startled I dropped him. I turned to run in fright.

~

Found I couldn’t move, screaming. I found myself covered in sweat in my own bed.

*Note: The photo of the staff and mound were taken by me, which I found on one of my mountain walks. I love Celtic history, lore and legends. I hope you enjoy them too, and attach a link so you could get acquainted with a few

As always I’m sharing a tour of famous sites in Ireland accompanied by The Chanter Tune I enjoyed the combination

As a young child I loved to watch Darby O’Gill and The Little People on TV. it enchanted and frighten me at the same time. It also featured a young Sean Connery (yes I know he is a Scot 🙂) this was his 7th appearance in a movie. Laughs, who knew that years later I’d be crushing on him as James Bond (he’s still sexy at his age).

Aside from everything else there is a dark side in Irish history. I’m sure many have heard about the potato famine, which forced many Irish citizens to immigrate to other countries. A movie I strongly suggest to watch is Black ’47 which tells a much truer version of that history, its affect on people of that time and the politics that was the loss of so many lives. I’m giving a link to the trailer

So I leave you with this finale message

☘️Happy St. Patrick’s Day and a wish for all my fellow bloggers, Irish or not, with this Irish saying:

“May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow. May the soft winds freshen your spirit. May the sunshine brighten your heart. May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you, and may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.”

  1. Very interesting post. I love your photos. Is that you in the green? Very mystical photos with the throne and the light in the forest. Was that in the USA? We’re both on The Leprechaun Frequency today!!! Interesting that, that is what is coming through rather than Saint Patrick! Just watching your videos. 🙂

    1. The throne is actually in Ireland legend says it was once St. Patrick’s. Yes it’s me overplayed the green. Are we in that Leprechaun mode together? Lol who knew. We people don’t always know the history of St Patrick and that he was actually a Brit and sent to Ireland as a slave. Who did make is back to England, converted to Christianity and returned to Ireland to convert the people. Lol and the snake thing is I’m assuming a metaphor for driving satan out of Ireland. My guess.

      1. I don’t know I told the dogs for a walk this morning in the woods and this story just formed as I walked. Guess the mountain is inspirational. 😁
